Who we are
The Sambhavna Trust is a registered public charitable trust set up in June 1995. Its primary objective is welfare of the survivors of the Union Carbide disaster and those affected by contamination of groundwater in Bhopal through medical care, research, health education and information dissemination. The Trust is registered under the Indian Trusts Actunder the Indian Registration Act and its Registration No. is 5023/4. The Trust is registered under 12A and its donors can have income tax exemption under 80G.

Personal data of donors
To process donations online, we collect personal data of donors. This includes the name, address, contact information and PAN of the donor. We do not collect any payment method information such as credit/debit card numbers, account numbers or UPI IDs.
Who we share your data with
If you donate to us, your payment related information, such as name, email address, phone number may be shared with a payment gateway to further process the transaction.

How long we retain your data
The only data that we retain is the personal data of donors when they fill the donation form. We retain this data indefinitely, or until a donor explicitly requests to be removed from our database.
What rights you have over your data
You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us during a donation. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data
Your personal data, as a donor, is primarily stored on our website. Your email address and name is transferred to Mailchimp for you to receive our newsletters and email updates.
During an online transaction for a donation, we transfer your name and email address to the payment gateway to further process the transaction.
How we protect your data
We take data security seriously. We actively maintain our website, it’s hosting server and database. This includes regularly upgrading the software and database security. We also audit our website security regularly.
What data breach procedures we have in place
In the unfortunate event of a targeted data breach, we will inform all our donors at the earliest about what information has been leaked in the public domain. We will work quickly to prevent any further breaches and audit our website security. As a small non profit organization, we invite ethical security researchers and professionals to provide us support to prevent such breaches.
